By joshua Sen. Karimi Congratulates Kotonkarfe As FG Commissions N1.4bn School Project He Facilitated
Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has congratulated the people of Kotonkarfe and Kogi West on the commissioning of newly constructed classroom and administrative blocks at Government Science Secondary School, Kotonkarfe.
The project, facilitated by the Senator as part of his 2024 Constituency Projects, was commissioned on Friday.
According to Senator Karimi, the intervention is one of 50 similar projects being executed across the country under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, but the first to be completed and commissioned. He said it reflects the President’s commitment to improving secondary education in rural communities and building a strong foundation for children at the grassroots. The project was executed through the National Senior Secondary Education Commission, NSSEC.
The project, valued at about N1.4 billion, comprises three distinct blocks fully furnished and equipped for modern learning.
The administrative block consists of seven offices with capacity for 16 staff, including the Principal’s office with a secretary’s office, a 15-seater boardroom, offices for the Vice Principals in charge of Administration and Academics, the Senior Master, and a Records and Archives room.
The first classroom block comprises six classrooms with 46 students capacity each, two staff rooms for nine staff each, a staircase and ramps for accessibility.
The second block is a combined laboratory and ICT complex made up of four laboratory classrooms with capacity for 48 students each, four offices and a chemical store, four ICT classrooms, four staff offices, two storerooms, two janitors’ rooms, conveniences, a gatehouse, entrance gate and external walls. The complex is equipped with laboratory and ICT equipment, a 3KVA inverter system, borehole with overhead tank and solar-powered streetlights.
Senator Karimi, who described himself as a teacher, said his commitment to education, youth empowerment and community development remains absolute.
“This is just the beginning. I will continue to facilitate more people-oriented projects that will improve learning conditions, create opportunities for our youths and uplift our communities through the many opportunities made available by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the architect and father of a new Nigeria,” he said.
