Kogi Unity Accord Announces Power Rotation Summit 2026

KOGI UNITY ACCORD, a non-partisan movement committed to equity and peaceful power rotation in Kogi State, has announced the hosting of the Kogi Power Rotation Summit 2026 scheduled for Wednesday, 30th September and Thursday, 1st October, 2026 at the Galaxy Event Centre, Lokoja by 10:00 a.m. prompt daily.
The Summit will be held under the distinguished Chairmanship of *Vice Admiral Joseph Ajayi CON (Rtd), former Chief of Defence Intelligence, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
For 35 years, the question of power sharing has remained central to political discourse in Kogi State. In response, KOGI UNITY ACCORD is convening a peaceful, people-driven dialogue of non-political leaders and stakeholders across the state to deliberate on equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and a sustainable framework for the rotation of political power.
Speaking ahead of the Summit, the Chairman, Vice Admiral Joseph Ajayi CON (Rtd), said the gathering is timely and necessary for the future of Kogi State.
“Kogi is greater than any zone, any individual, or any political interest. For us to move forward, we must sit together as brothers and sisters and agree on a path that guarantees every part of this state a sense of belonging. This Summit is about healing, understanding, and building a Kogi that works for all,” he stated.
The Secretary of the Planning Committee, Pastor Enejo Sanni, said the Summit is not about politics but about the survival and prosperity of Kogi State.
“This is a platform for our revered traditional rulers, elders, professionals, women, youth and civil society to speak truthfully and respectfully. We are here to retool Kogi for unity and shared prosperity. Your wisdom is indispensable to this dialogue,” Pastor Sanni said.
1. A Durable Power-Sharing Framework: To develop a consensus-driven model for rotational leadership that reflects Kogi’s diversity and promotes fairness.
2. Promotion of Peace and Stability: To reduce tension and conflict around elections by addressing grievances through dialogue.
3. Stronger Governance and Inclusiveness the: To ensure that government policies and appointments reflect all parts of the state.
4. Unity Across Divides: To build trust and understanding among the three senatorial districts and various ethnic groups.
5.Development-Focused Leadership: To align future leadership with the collective goal of infrastructure, jobs, security and prosperity for all Kogites.
