By joshua Nurses Solicit Mutual Collaboration With UBTH To Improve Healthcare

The Edo State Chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has called for stronger collaboration with the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) to improve healthcare delivery and strengthen professional capacity among nurses.
The association made the call when its leadership paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, to congratulate her on her appointment and historic emergence as the first female to head the tertiary health institution.
NANNM Edo State Chairman, Comrade Stella Otaigbe, who led the delegation, described Ize-Iyamu as a goal-getter and role model, saying her appointment had broken a significant barrier in the history of the hospital.
Otaigbe sought the hospital management’s partnership in the areas of sponsorship, training and retraining of nurses, stressing that continuous professional development remains critical to quality healthcare delivery.
Receiving the delegation alongside members of her management team, Prof. Ize-Iyamu expressed appreciation to NANNM for the gesture and congratulated the association for its commitment to the nursing profession.
The delegation included Comrades Julius Emasalumen, Esan Stella and Patrick Esangbedo.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the association to celebrate Ize-Iyamu’s appointment as the first woman to occupy the office of Chief Medical Director of UBTH.
