KOGI UNITY ACCORD TO HOST POWER ROTATION SUMMIT 2026, SEEKS DURABLE FRAMEWORK FOR EQUITY AND UNITY

…Summit to Convene Non-Political Leaders Under Vice Admiral Joseph Ajayi to Chart Future of Power Sharing in Kogi

A non-partisan movement, KOGI UNITY ACCORD, has announced plans to host the Kogi Power Rotation Summit 2026, a strategic dialogue aimed at fostering equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and a sustainable framework for the rotation of political power in Kogi State.

The two-day Summit is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 30th September and Thursday, 1st October, 2026 at the Galaxy Event Centre, Lokoja, starting at 10:00 a.m. prompt daily.

It will be held under the distinguished Chairmanship of Vice Admiral Joseph Ajayi CON (Rtd), former Chief of Defence Intelligence, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to the Planning Committee, the Summit is conceived as a peaceful, people-driven platform to address 35 years of power-sharing discourse in Kogi State and to promote understanding, unity, and shared prosperity across the state’s three senatorial districts.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Planning Committee, Pastor Enejo Sanni, the Kogi Unity Accord described the Summit as a convergence of non-political leaders, traditional rulers, professionals, women, youth and civil society stakeholders reflective of the state’s diversity.

“The issue of power rotation has continued to shape our political conversations for over three decades. This Summit provides an opportunity to move beyond rhetoric and agree on a durable, people-centered framework that guarantees equity and inclusiveness for the future of our dear state,” the statement read.

The organizers noted that the benefits of the Summit to Kogi State include:
– Promoting Unity: Building bridges across ethnic and regional divides through open and respectful dialogue.
– Ensuring Equity and Fairness: Developing consensus on a transparent and sustainable power rotation model that reflects Kogi’s diversity.
– Strengthening Governance: Creating a framework that ensures inclusive governance and reduces tension around elections.
– Fostering Peace and Stability: Providing a non-political space to address grievances and prevent conflict ahead of future electoral cycles.
– Driving Development: Aligning leadership with the goal of “Retooling Kogi for Unity & Shared Prosperity” by prioritizing policies that benefit all parts of the state.

The Planning Committee said distinguished stakeholders from across Kogi State have been invited to present positions and recommendations, with breakfast and lunch provided for all invited guests and delegates.

“Kogi Unity Accord believes that the wisdom and experience of our leaders are indispensable to this dialogue. The outcome of this Summit will serve as a roadmap for peaceful coexistence and equitable leadership in Kogi State,” Pastor Sanni added.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to a non-partisan approach, stressing that the Summit is not about any individual, party, or zone, but about the collective future of Kogi State.

Further details on participation and proceedings will be released by the Planning Committee ahead of the Summit.
