Light Returns to Oboroke Shopping Complex as New Transformer Restores Power
Power has returned to Shopping Complex to Central Mosque axis in Oboroke Town following the installation of a newly donated transformer, bringing relief to traders, residents and community leaders.
The transformer, donated by the Kogi State Accountant General, Hajiya Habibat Oyiza Onumoko, was connected over the weekend and immediately restored electricity to the area after days of outage.
Traders at the area described the intervention as timely.
“We can now work late and keep our goods safe. This gesture has revived business here,” one of the traders said.
Residents and community leaders also commended the quick response, noting that the restoration of power will boost economic activities and improve security around the mosque area.
In appreciation, the people of Oboroke listed other projects still needed at transformer ground to make it fully functional. These include the casting of concrete on the housing floor, the construction of a proper fence, installation of barbed wire, and the provision of street light to prevent burglar.
Community leaders expressed gratitude to the Kogi State Government for its continued support to Oboroke Town. They specifically acknowledged the recent visit of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alh. Usman Ododo, which they said reaffirmed the government’s commitment to grassroots development.
“We appreciate the efforts of the state government and the kind gesture of the Accountant General. We appeal that the remaining work be completed so the area can serve the people better,” a community youth stated.
The restoration has been widely welcomed across Oboroke, with residents expressing optimism that further government attention will address the outstanding needs at the facility.
