By joshua Alleged Sacrilege: Group Gives Igbinedion 24 Hours To Apologise To Palace
A Socio -Cultural Group, the Aguobasinmwin Movement Worldwide, AMW, has given Chief Osawaru Igbinedion, Esama of Benin, a 24 hours ultimatum to apologize to the Palace over allegedly using the palace praise singers to sing a song specifically met for the Oba of Benin.
The group in a world Press briefing on Wednesday in Benin city urged chief Igbinedion to apologize as it is a Sacrilege for him to have allowed the Palace praise singers to sing the song for him.
Speaking, Amas Edobor , said, been a senior chief Benin kingdom, as Esama of Benin, chief Igbinedion does not need to be told that the purported song is solely met for the Oba of Benin.
He queried, ” how will Chief Osawaru Igbinedion allow the singers to sing that particular song for him, it is an abomination to the Kingdom.” He stated.
” In the past he has severally disrespected the Palace, as a senior chief he is supposed to be in a position to direct the young ones”.
We have given him 24 hours to apologize to the Palace or we will not support the reflection of his daughter in 2027. He was there when they were singing the song and he did not bother to stop them, which means he gave consent.
Also speaking, a member of the group,Nelson Uwaifo said enough is enough, Chief Igbinedion must apologize to the Palace within 24 hours or he will not get favour from the people in the coming election of the daughter.”
According to Uwaifo, chief Igbinedion has offended the Palace before and he was pardoned, but this time around he must stop it. We will not allow that to happen again.He stated.
