It was a moment of celebration and nostalgia on Friday as the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Hon. Engr. Bashiru Gegu, marked the birthday of his childhood friend, Alhaji Aliyu S. Muhammed, Chief Executive Officer of Bakanya Oil and Gas Limited and a proud son of Gegu.
In a birthday message made available to newsmen, Engr. Bashiru described Alh. Aliyu as “more than a brother — a dependable friend and a pride to Gegu, Kogi Central and Kogi State at large.”
“We grew up together in Gegu. From the dusty streets where we played to the heights God has taken us today, Alhaji Aliyu has remained consistent — humble, focused, and committed to service,” the Commissioner said.
Engr. Bashiru described the oil and gas entrepreneur as a jolly good fellow and a patriotic Kogite whose business drive has continued to create opportunities for youths. He noted that Alh. Aliyu’s contributions to entrepreneurship and skills development align with the economic agenda of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Today, you are being talked about differently in the oil and gas space because of the vision and diligence you are bringing on board. You are aligning your business with people-first policies that create jobs and empower communities,” Engr. Bashiru stated.
The Commissioner, a staunch supporter of both the Ododo and Tinubu administrations, commended Alh. Aliyu for his loyalty, accessibility, and commitment to youth empowerment and community development in Gegu and across the state.
“Alhaji Aliyu S. Muhammed does not forget where he is coming from. He carries Gegu in his heart. He carries the interests of young people in his plans. That is the kind of leadership we need to grow Kogi and Nigeria,” he added.
He prayed for more wisdom, strength and divine protection for the oil magnate as he continues to contribute to national development.
“On this day of your birth, I celebrate the man, the entrepreneur, and my brother. May Allah grant you long life in good health, more grace to serve, and greater victories in all you do. Gegu is proud of you. Kogi is proud of you,” Engr. Bashiru concluded.
The birthday tribute has continued to attract goodwill messages from associates, political stakeholders and indigenes of Kogi State both at home and in the diaspora, who described Alh. Aliyu as a bridge-builder and a shining example of purposeful leadership.
