As Arc. Yomi Awoniyi* marks his 65th birthday, tributes have poured in across Kogi State and beyond, with many describing him as a rare politician of integrity, vision and compassion whose life of service continues to shape leaders and communities.
One of such tributes comes from Abu Micheal, former Chief Press Secretary to Arc. Awoniyi and the newly appointed Special Adviser on South South Mobilization.
In a heartfelt birthday message, Abu Michael described Arc. Awoniyi as his principal, boss and benefactor who single-handedly changed the course of his life and career. He recalled with deep gratitude the opportunity given to him to serve as Chief Press Secretary to Arc. Awoniyi between 2012 and 2016, a period he described as a defining watershed in his Political and Professional journey.
According to him, working under Arc. Awoniyi was more than a job. It was a tutelage in leadership, discipline and excellence that produced indelible results to the glory of God and humanity. He noted that the role of Chief Press Secretary could have gone to anyone, but against all odds Arc. Awoniyi chose him, believed in him, and mentored him to stand out. That rare privilege, he said, gave him visibility and credibility, and just a few weeks ago culminated in his appointment as Special Adviser on South South Mobilization.
Abu Michael extolled Arc. Awoniyi as a highly principled politician of rare virtues who leads with the fear of God, fairness, and clean hands. He said his boss has remained a shining example of unquestionable character not only in Kogi State but across Nigeria, a leader whose light continues to stand out because he lifts others as he rises.
On behalf of himself and his family, Abu Michael prayed for continued good health, happiness, wisdom and greater grace upon Arc. Awoniyi as he marks this milestone age. He described the celebrant as a boss of inestimable value whose impact on lives will remain evergreen.
