By joshua 2027: Let your votes count, Nwifuru’s Wife Urges Women, Empowers Traders

The wife of Ebonyi State Governor Chief (Mrs) Mary Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru has urged women in the State to massively vote his dear husband, Governor Francis Nwifuru’s second term bid and other APC candidates to reap more dividends of democracy.
Mrs Nwifuru stated this during the grand finale of the 2026 women August meeting, themed “the power of resilient women in the Nation building” at Pa-Ngele township stadium Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
At the event, the Governor’s wife empowered over fifty two market women who have shown resilience in sustaining their businesses with undisclosed amount of money.
She noted that the present administration under the watch of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has done a lot to Ebonyi women, through appointment of women into various positions of trust, engaging them into different programmes aimed at improving their well-being.
“Economically we have been improved. He has given us opportunities to benefit from his health care services, education and participation in the development of Ebonyi State”
“We must not take this for granted, as women we must remember those who have remembered us and support those who have supported us especially leadership that has demonstrated guine commitment to the well-being being and advancement of our people”
“It is time to show appreciation by voting all the APC candidates in the upcoming general elections. They have supported us and it is time for us to show our support to them and I know my women can’t disappoint me”
“Ebonyi women have always been resilient but today we need to be more than resilient, we need wisdom, knowledge, unity and courage. Let this year’s August meeting moves us from celebration to commitment, discussion to action, individual success to collective progress, building of stronger families, peaceful communities, create opportunities for others, raise responsible children and ensure stronger Ebonyi State.
She appreciated Governor Nwifuru for his continued support and commitment to the welfare and advancement of Ebonyi women while assuring that the women are fully in support of his government and can never disappoint him.
Speaking at the event, the State Governor Chief Francis Nwifuru represented by his Deputy Princess Patricia Obila, commended the First Lady’s signature initiative and her commitment to ensuring the welfare of women in the State.
The Governor noted that women in Ebonyi State have proven to be dependable leaders in governance, healthcare, and community welfare.
Acknowledging the women massive turnout in the recently concluded local government elections in which APC cleared all 13 chairmanship seats and 171 wards, he assured the women that his administration would continue to prioritize women inclusion in his policies, programmes and appointments.
Earlier, the chairman of the event who doubles as Minister of works, Senator David Umahi represented by Chief Austin Umahi maintained that the August Meeting has evolved from simple social gatherings into strategic development forums and lauded the current administration for appointing women into various positions of trust.
Umahi described women as the foundation of the family and society. He urged women to reciprocate government goodwill with massive support in the next elections and expressed optimism that Ebonyi will produce a woman Senator.
“If you want to marry a good wife, come to Ebonyi State. If you want a resilient woman, come to Ebonyi State,” he said.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Barr. Felicia Nwamkpuma, charged mothers to take back control of their family values and youth development and never allow their children to travel for apprenticeship.
Nwamkpuma challenged mothers to remain vigilant against social vices by raising value driven children capable of contributing positively to nation-building.
The event attracted former first ladies, other top government functionaries and featured various performances from nollywood actors, drama, match pass cultural display among others.
