The Management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has received the Member of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Board of Trustee representing the North Central Geopolitical Zone, Dr. Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, on a courtesy visit to the University on Friday, 28th August 2026.
Dr. Ocholi, who is an alumnus of the University, was received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, alongside Principal Officers and other members of the University community.
In his welcome address, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, congratulated Dr. Ocholi on his well-deserved appointment as member, TETFund Board of Trustees, representing North Central region, and expressed the University’s appreciation to TETFund for its continued partnership and interventions in the institution since its establishment.
He expressed appreciation to Dr. Ocholi for the visit, noting that the University was particularly proud to host him as an alumnus, and expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen the relationship between PAAU and TETFund.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor also expressed the University’s gratitude for the recent donation of ten (10) units of six (6) seater electric tricycle by TETFund, noting that the intervention would contribute to improving the institution’s operational activities.
He presented a number of requests for further TETFund intervention, including the provision of a solar power plant and the necessary equipment for power generation across the campus to address the University’s energy challenges.
Other requests presented included the construction of perimeter fencing along the University’s boundary to enhance security, the provision of a fire-fighting truck and the establishment of a fire service station within the University, as well as the construction and furnishing of hostel accommodation for medical students.
Responding, Dr. Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi appreciated the University Management for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded him during the visit.
He expressed particular excitement at his returning to the institution as an alumnus, noting that he obtained his first, second and third degrees from the University.
Dr. Ocholi said he had taken note of the requests presented by the University Management and reassured the institution of his commitment to pursuing support for the critical projects.
On the issue of power supply, Dr. Ocholi disclosed that, following an earlier complaint raised by the Vice-Chancellor, he had approached the relevant authorities on the matter and explained that the request had been forwarded to the appropriate desk for consideration.
He expressed optimism that the request would be considered soon, noting that the proposed intervention would help address the University’s energy challenges.
On the construction of perimeter fencing, Dr. Ocholi expressed his commitment to working towards ensuring that the project be achieved before the end of his tenure as a member of the TETFund Board of Trustees.
On the request for a fire-fighting truck and the establishment of a fire service station, Dr. Ocholi disclosed that, even before his appointment to the TETFund Board, he had held discussions with the Director-General of the Federal Fire Service regarding the establishment of a fire station in the eastern part of the state.
In his words, “Anyigba had been considered as a possible location and, given the facilities already available, the University premises would be considered as a potential site for the proposed fire service station.”
He further disclosed that a dual approach would be adopted to expedite the process, including the submission of a formal request to TETFund, stressing that the ultimate objective is to ensure the establishment of a functional fire-fighting station within the University.
On the request for the construction and furnishing of hostel accommodation for medical students, Dr. Ocholi assured the University Management that the proposal would be presented for consideration at the TETFund Management level.
Dr. Ocholi also urged the University Management to continue to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in its efforts to reform and reposition the education sector and promote sustainable development across the country.
Highlight of the visit was the inspection of TETFund projects across the University and the formal presentation of copies of the University’s bulletin to the August visitor, Dr. Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, by the University Management.
