By joshua KOGI @ 35: PDP CHAIRMEN FELICITATES WITH PEOPLE OF KOGI STATE, CALLS FOR UNITY AND GOOD GOVERNANCE
The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has felicitated with the government and good people of Kogi State on the occasion of the 35th Anniversary of the creation of the state.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Lokoja, the State Chairman of the Party, Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo, described the creation of Kogi State on August 27, 1991 as a watershed moment that brought governance closer to the people and united the diverse ethnic nationalities under one identity – The Confluence State.
Hon. Gambo noted that in the last 35 years, Kogi State has made remarkable strides in human capital development, infrastructure, agriculture, and peace-building despite its challenges.
“As we mark 35 years of statehood, we celebrate the resilience, courage, and industry of Kogites at home and in the diaspora. From the hills of Okun to the banks of the Niger and Benue, our people have shown that unity in diversity is our greatest strength,” the statement read.
The PDP Chairman commended past and present leaders for their contributions to the growth of the state, while urging the current administration to prioritize inclusive governance, security, job creation, and improved welfare for civil servants and the grassroots.
He further called on all political leaders, irrespective of party affiliations, to put the interest of Kogi State above personal and partisan considerations as the state prepares for the next phase of development.
“Democracy thrives when opposition plays its role responsibly. As PDP, we remain committed to constructive engagement that will deepen democratic values and ensure that government delivers on its promises to the people,” Hon. Gambo stated.
He prayed for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Kogi State, and assured that the PDP will continue to offer credible alternatives and partner with all stakeholders for the good of the state.
“On behalf of the PDP family in Kogi State, I congratulate every Kogite on this milestone. May the next 35 years be greater, more prosperous, and more united for us all,” he concluded.
