By joshua CPI CONGRATULATES RADIO KOGI AND KOGI STATE AT 35
Challenged Parenthood Initiative (CPI) warmly congratulates the Management and Staff of the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Kogi) on the occasion of its 35th Anniversary, as Kogi State also marks 35 years since its creation.
Thirty-five years of statehood is a significant milestone. It is an opportunity to celebrate Kogi State’s journey, reflect on its history and the contributions of its people, and look ahead to the work required to build a more inclusive, prosperous and resilient State.
For 35 years, Radio Kogi has been an important part of that journey. Through its programmes and broadcasts, the station has informed, educated and entertained generations of Kogites, while providing a platform for public discourse and connecting communities across the State.
As an organisation working to promote gender justice, child protection, civic participation and inclusive development, CPI recognises the important role of the media in strengthening democracy and ensuring that citizens have access to information and platforms through which their voices can be heard.
We particularly recognise the leadership of the Director-General of the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Hajia Nana Hawa Yusuf, and the collective efforts of the Management and Staff in sustaining the Corporation and navigating the changing demands of public-interest broadcasting.
The 35th anniversary is also a moment to reflect on the role Radio Kogi can continue to play in Kogi State’s development. A strong public broadcaster can help bridge information gaps, amplify the concerns of communities, promote civic awareness and create constructive spaces for dialogue between citizens and institutions.
Similarly, as Kogi State marks 35 years, CPI celebrates the resilience, diversity and enormous potential of its people. The State’s strategic location, human resources, agricultural potential and natural resources provide significant opportunities for sustainable development.
At the same time, anniversaries are valuable moments for honest reflection. Issues around access to quality healthcare and education, potable water, road infrastructure, flood resilience, livelihoods, youth opportunities, security and inclusive participation remain important to the everyday experiences of many citizens. These challenges remind all stakeholders of the need to continually strengthen efforts towards people-centred development.
CPI therefore joins other citizens, organisations and institutions in celebrating this milestone while looking forward to a future where every Kogite can enjoy greater access to essential services, opportunities and a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their lives.
We believe that government, civil society, the media, communities, the private sector and citizens all have important roles to play in shaping this future.
As Radio Kogi begins another chapter, we encourage the Corporation to continue upholding professionalism, credible information, inclusive programming and responsible public-interest broadcasting.
CPI wishes the Management and Staff of Radio Kogi a happy 35th anniversary and congratulates the people of Kogi State on 35 years of statehood.
May the years ahead bring greater opportunities, inclusive development and improved well-being for the people of Kogi State.
