The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, CG Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and the Nigeria Customs Service have been selected to receive prestigious awards by Democracy Newsline Newspaper for outstanding contributions to governance and economic development.
The Service will be honoured with the “Most Compliant Government Agency in Trade Facilitation” award, while CG Adeniyi will receive the “Excellent Public Service Leadership” award.
The recognition is in commemoration of Democracy Newsline Newspaper’s 16th Public Lecture marking 27 Years of Uninterrupted Democracy in Nigeria, and the Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame.
Announcing the selection, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said the awards celebrate institutions and leaders driving transparency, efficiency, and results in public service.
“Under CG Bashir Adeniyi’s leadership, the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded unprecedented strides in trade facilitation, automation, revenue generation, and anti-smuggling operations. The Service has become a model of compliance with international trade standards and a critical partner in Nigeria’s economic reform agenda,” Chief Femi stated.
“CG Adeniyi has demonstrated visionary leadership, professionalism, and commitment to staff welfare and national service. This double honour reflects both institutional and personal excellence.”
Under the current administration, the Nigeria Customs Service has advanced the implementation of the B’Odogwu Trade Portal, expanded the Authorized Economic Operator Programme, strengthened border security, and improved collaboration with other government agencies to ease doing business in Nigeria.
