… KOGI LABOUR LEADERS PLEDGE COMMITMENT TO GREATER SERVICE

 

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Tuesday received in audience the leadership of organized labour in the state and announced the donation of three brand new buses to support their operations.

 

The courtesy visit, which held at the Government House in Lokoja, was led by the Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Gabriel Amari, had in attendance leaders of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, the Joint Negotiating Council, JNC, and other affiliate unions.

 

The labour leaders used the opportunity to appreciate the Governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare and to present key issues affecting civil servants in the state.

 

Governor Ododo thanked civil servants, and labour leaders in particular, for their cooperation and support for his administration. He commended the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, for his role in mediating between government and labour, and applauded organized labour for working closely with the NLC Chairman and the SA Labour.

 

The Governor disclosed that his administration had earlier set up a committee to look into various issues relating to civil servants and assured that all promises made to workers would be fulfilled.

In a major gesture to strengthen labour operations, Governor Ododo donated three brand new buses to the NLC, TUC and JNC in the state.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser on Labour, Comrade Onuh Edoka, thanked the Governor for granting audience to labour leadership. He noted that the regular payment of workers’ salaries and other welfare packages under the Ododo administration are highly commendable.

The State NLC Chairman, Comrade Gabriel Amari, also expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for addressing most of the challenges affecting the union and civil servants in the state.
