The Special Adviser (SA) on General Duties to Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State, Barrister Ekpenyong Akiba, has been honoured with the Salvation Army Cross River District Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding service, unshaken dedication, and commitment to humanity.

This was contained in a recent report authored by Denis Inakefe and published by Sentry Times.

According to the report, “The award was presented during the Salvation Army Founder’s Day celebration in Calabar, where the organisation recognised Akiba’s contributions to public service, humanitarian causes, and community development.

“Presenting the award, the Salvation Army described the recognition as a testament to his (Akiba’s) hard work, selfless service, and positive impact on society, noting that his commitment to humanity continues to inspire many.”

Deeply touched by the accolade, Barrister Akiba expressed his profound gratitude to the Salvation Army, noting that it stands out as one of the most significant recognitions he has ever received.

He was quoted as saying that “No award is greater than one given by the Church.”

He dedicated the award to his principal, Governor Otu for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of Cross River State.

Akiba fondly recalled his foundational years in the Salvation Army, looking back on his early education at the church and the core values it inculcated in him.

In support of the church’s mission, the SA General Duties reportedly contributed N300,000 towards the advancement of the Salvation Army in Cross River State.
