CNNPF COMMENDS FIRST LADY OLUREMI TINUBU FOR GRASSROOTS EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVES
The Christian Northern Nigeria Progressive Forum, CNNPF, has commended Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of Nigeria, for her commitment to empowering the poorest citizens through support for petty traders, akara sellers, artisans and other grassroots businesses.
In a statement signed by its National Chairman, Elder Hon. Ibrahim Gabriel Itodo, the Forum described the First Lady’s interventions as a direct reflection of the heart of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
“Her words and actions show that no Nigerian is too small for government attention. True leadership starts from the bottom up. When you empower the market woman, the youth, and the artisan, you are building families, communities, and ultimately, a stronger nation,” the statement said.
CNNPF rejected attempts to dismiss the empowerment drive as “mere wash,” stressing that there is dignity in every honest work. The group cited scriptures to back its position, referencing Zechariah 4:10 on not despising small beginnings, Matthew 13:33 on change starting small, and 1 Timothy 2:1-2 on the duty of Christians to pray for leaders.
“Akara, petty trading, tailoring, farming — these are not ‘small’ jobs. God blessed the work of the hands. When government remembers the market woman, it is God’s heart of compassion in action,” the Forum stated.
The group called on Christian leaders and citizens across Northern Nigeria to support the vision, preach hope, promote unity, and back policies that put food on the table of the common man.
CNNPF also urged churches to be centers of hope rather than criticism, and to encourage members to access government support programmes and embrace the dignity of labour.
“We pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Senator Oluremi Tinubu as they work to renew hope. We must key into empowerment programmes in our communities. There must be a Nigeria before we talk politics,” Elder Itodo added.
The Forum concluded by praying for God’s blessings on the First Lady, the President, and the nation.
