Maigari Praises Afemai Contributions to Lokoja’s Socio-Economic Growth During Eid Homage

The Maigari of Lokoja, HRH Alhaji Gambo Muhammad, has commended the leadership style of HRH Alhaji Zakari Ahmadu Dangana, the Onogie of Afemai people in Lokoja, describing it as charismatic and instrumental to the peaceful coexistence of Afemai residents in the city.
The Maigari gave the commendation on Tuesday when he received a delegation of Afemai people living in Lokoja, led by the Onogie, who paid him an Eid-el-Kabir Sallah homage at his palace. He lauded the Afemai community for their immeasurable contributions to the socio-economic development of Lokoja from time immemorial.
He noted that the historical relationship between the people of Lokoja and the Afemai has been mutually beneficial, stressing that Afemai indigenes have played vital roles as teachers, administrators, and missionaries in the growth of the city. The monarch also praised the new generation of Afemai people for sustaining that legacy of positive contributions to Lokoja’s development.
The Maigari urged the Onogie to continue providing charismatic leadership that has kept the Afemai community peaceful and law-abiding. He assured the Afemai people of the Lokoja Traditional Council’s support whenever the need arises.
Earlier in his remarks, the Onogie of Afemai in Lokoja, HRH Alhaji Zakari Ahmadu Dangana, said the visit was to show solidarity with the Maigari, whose reign has fostered remarkable peaceful coexistence for Afemai people in Lokoja. He reaffirmed the community’s commitment to supporting the traditional ruler and contributing to the progress of Lokoja.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Afemai Progressive Union, an umbrella body for Afemai people across the six local government areas of Edo North Senatorial District, Comrade Abu Michael, said the homage was to express the community’s appreciation to the Maigari for the harmony and acceptance Afemai people have enjoyed under his leadership.
