Kogi West APC Primary: Orebiyi Faults Zonal Chairman Over Alleged Contradictory Position

Kogi West APC Primary: Orebiyi Faults Zonal Chairman Over Alleged Contradictory Position

A political stakeholder in Kogi West has faulted the recent position of the APC Kogi West Zonal Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Ayo Aledare, over the outcome of the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary election in the district.

In a statement signed by Prince Orebiyi Emmanuel Taiwo and made available to journalists, the chairman was accused of taking contradictory positions regarding the primary election.

The statement recalled that Hon. Aledare had earlier publicly congratulated Senator Sunday Steve Karimi shortly after the primary election, describing his emergence as a “well-deserved victory” and commending the confidence reposed in him by delegates and party stakeholders across Kogi West.

According to the statement, it is surprising that the same chairman is now allegedly supporting claims that another aspirant, who reportedly withdrew from the race and did not participate in the exercise, should be declared the rightful candidate.

“I think this zonal chairman is confused and perhaps acting under the influence of something else. How can someone approbate and reprobate at the same time?” the statement said.

It further maintained that there are clear pictorial and video evidences showing the conduct of the primary election, submission of results, and declaration of Senator Sunday Karimi as winner of the exercise.

The statement stressed that truth cannot be altered through attempts to twist facts or mislead members of the public, insisting that the mandate freely given by delegates during the primary election should be respected.

Prince Orebiyi Emmanuel Taiwo urged party faithful and stakeholders to remain calm and committed to the unity and progress of the APC in Kogi West despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the primary election.
