
Kogi Solid Minerals Commissioner Engr. Bashir Gegu Honored by NAES, Donates ₦1m to Support Student Event

The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, on Thursday hosted the leadership and members of the National Association of Ebira Students (NAES), Kogi State Polytechnic Chapter, Lokoja, during a courtesy visit to his office.

The student body conferred on the Commissioner an Award of Excellence for Humanity, citing his selfless service, philanthropy, and consistent support for youth and student development across the state.
Presenting the award, the student leaders described Engr. Gegu as a detribalized leader and father figure whose open-door policy and interventions have impacted lives beyond political and ethnic lines.
In his response, Engr. Gegu thanked the association for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to investing in students and young people. He announced a donation of ₦1 million to support the association’s forthcoming event and urged the students to remain focused on their studies, shun social vices, and uphold the good name of Ebira land and Kogi State.
Speaking on behalf of NAES KSP Chapter, the OHINOYI of the association, Abdulazeez Arikora, expressed appreciation for the Commissioner’s generosity and continued support for the student community. He described Engr. Gegu as a role model whose humanitarian strides continue to inspire young people, and pledged the association’s prayers and support.
