EJEH OF ANKPA PAYS ROYAL VISIT TO KOGI COMMISSIONER, COMMENDS MINING SECTOR REFORMS
… Traditional ruler lauds Engr. Bashiru Gegu’s efforts in creating enabling environment for miners in Ankpa
When a man’s service wins the trust of the people, it does not take long for royalty to take notice.
That was evident on Friday as the Ejeh of Ankpa and Chairman of the Ankpa Traditional Council of Chiefs, HRH Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Ahmed Yakubu II, paid a royal visit to the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashiru Gegu, at his Gegu Beki residence.
The traditional ruler said the Commissioner’s contributions to the mining sector and the welfare of Ankpa residents had reached his palace, prompting the visit to offer prayers and express the appreciation of the people.
“Your good works have come to our ears in Ankpa, especially in areas where mining activities are most pronounced. We commend your leadership in making the environment safe and enabling for miners and host communities,” HRH Alhaji Yakubu said.
He prayed for continued divine blessings upon the Commissioner, noting that responsible mining practices were crucial to both economic growth and community peace in Ankpa, one of Kogi’s key mining hubs.
Responding, an elated Engr. Gegu said he was humbled by the recognition and did not realize his work was being closely observed by the traditional institution. He expressed gratitude to the Ejeh for the honour and for the prayers offered.
“I am most grateful to His Royal Highness for this royal visit. It shows that when you serve with sincerity, the people and their leaders will see it,” the Commissioner said.
Engr. Gegu attributed his achievements in the ministry to the support of Governor Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Bello, whose policies he said had created a conducive atmosphere for solid minerals development in the state.
He pledged to remain committed to fostering peace, unity, and prosperity through his office, vowing to continue serving humanity with dedication.
The visit underscores the growing collaboration between traditional institutions and government in promoting sustainable resource management and community development in Kogi State.
