Former All Progressives Congress, APC, Edo 2024 governorship aspirant, Engr. Gideon Ikhine gave out his daughter in marriage during the weekend in grand style in Ekpoma Town.
The marriage has further strengthened the bond of friendship between the families of Engr. Gideon and Barr. Mrs Remi Ikhine on one hand, and Engr. Dane & Dr. (Mrs) Nena Vukmirovic on the other.
The traditional marriage took place at the Ikhine’s family compound where Naomi Ebehiremen and Filip were formally made husband and wife according to Esan customs and tradition.
The event later shifted to the reception held at the Golden Royal Event Center, Ekpoma where array of dignitaries across the globe gathered in honour of the Edo political guru, Engr. Ikhine whose political reach in the state is outstanding.
The white wedding which is bill to take place this year August at the Church of Saint Sava Krusedolska 2a, BOECRAD 11000, Belgrade, Serbia, promises to be a grand event.
In his remarks at Saturday’s reception, the chairman of the occasion and Ezomon of Ekpoma Kingdom, Chief Ezekiel Ainabe described the event as one of the biggest occasions he has attended in recent times.
He described Engr. Ikhine’s family as being among the respected ones in Esan land having excelled in all areas of life. He thanked the traditional rulers and other personalities who graced the event despite their busy schedules.
He enjoined all Esan sons and daughters to always respect the customs and tradition of the land because they guide our activities.
Earlier in an interview, Engr. Gideon Ikhine, father of the bride, described the day as a happy moment for him as a father and for the entire Ikhine family.
According to him, “Being alive with my lovely wife to witness the marriage of our only daughter is a great thing to us as family and it will remain in our memories in our life time.
He prayed for the couple and wished them well in their life endeavors.
Engr. Ikhine specially thanked all the dignitaries that came from far and near to honour the family and prayed that God Almighty grants them merciful journeys back to their respective homes.
He particularly appreciated the fatherly support by the traditional rulers in Esan land led by the Onojie of Ekpoma Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Barr. Anthony Abumere II, during the marriage ceremony.
Some of the personalities who attended the marriage event include, the Minister of Regional Development, Hon. Abubakar Momoh, Senator Joe Ikpea, sen. Matthew Uroghide, AAU VC, Prof. Eunice Omozele, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Hon. Ifaluyi Isibor, former Commissioner under former Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, the Onojie of Ekpoma Kingdom His Royal Highness, Barr. Anthony Abumere II led other Esan traditional rulers to spice up the occasion and host of others.
The atmosphere at the venue was electrified with all kinds of musical genres, from the traditional Esan music bands to afrobeat as the couple and other guests had good times dancing to beautiful renditions they offered.
Highlight of the occasion was the cutting of the cake by the couple to the admiration of guests present.
