
Gov Otu approves strategic transformer deployments to boost power supply across Cross River

The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has approved the distribution and installation of high-capacity transformers across communities in the Northern, Central and Southern Senatorial Districts as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen electricity infrastructure and expand access to stable power supply.

The intervention, implemented through the Cross River State Electrification Agency, targets critical communities and public institutions requiring urgent support to improve energy distribution and drive socio-economic activities.
Beneficiary locations include Ekorinim by Redeemed Church, where a 1MVA capacity transformer was installed, and 50 Plots/Nature Court Estate, Parliamentary Extension, which received a 500KVA transformer. In Unebu Community, Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area, a 500KVA transformer has been deployed to address longstanding power challenges.
Further installations include a 500KVA transformer at St. Joseph, Okuku in Yala Local Government Area, and a 300KVA transformer at Government Reserved Area (G.R.A.), Igoli in Ogoja Local Government Area.
In addition to new deployments, existing infrastructure to be rehabilitated in key areas, including a 300VA transformer at the Catholic Church, Okuku, Yala Local Government Area, and another 300VA transformer at Mary Knoll College.
The strategic installations are expected to enhance electricity reliability, improve security, support educational and healthcare institutions, and stimulate commercial activities in the benefiting communities.
