Integrated Groundnut Farmers Association Assures of Making Kogi Groundnut Producing State
…. Joins AFAN, As Kogi AFAN Chairman Promises Support To Association.
The Integrated Groundnut Farmers Association, Kogi State Chapter, has called on the Federal and State Government to declare a State of emergency towards improving Groundnut farming in the country.

Integrated Groundnut Farmers Association of Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter, made the call when the Association received its official membership into the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter.
The Chairman described Groundnut as a cash crop that is not only commercially viable, but also has the capacity to boost the nation’s economy and serve as a key to food security.
He explained that Groundnut, like rice and cashew, are cash crops and sources of income, said the affiliation with AFAN is geared towards repositioning the sector for greater productivity.
The Chairman said the immediate task for the Association is to integrate all Groundnut farmers in Kogi State under an umbrella, assuring that Kogi State will soon be counted amongst Groundnut-growing States in the country.
He also disclosed of plans to build Warehouses and processing factories across the State, insisting that the State is richly blessed with favourable climate to grow Groundnut.
The Consultant to the Integrated Groundnut Farmers, Agene Thomas, said Kogi State is blessed with a climate good for Groundnut production and the platform seeks to bring farmers under cluster to help monitor produce and assist in processing.
The Kogi State AFAN Chairman, Alhaji Salihu Adobanyi Momoh, lauded Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo’s administration for repositioning agriculture in the State and assured the Integrated Groundnut Farmers of AFAN’s technical and other support.
Highlights of the visit was the presentation of certificate to Integrated Groundnut Farmers Association, Kogi State Chapter by the AFAN Chairman, described the presentation as the beginning of new chapter for Groundnut Farmers in the State.
