Vice-Chancellor Visits FUL Central Mosque, Seeks Prayers and Truthful Counsel
The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, on Friday joined members of the university community at the Central Mosque for the Jumu‘ah prayer, where special thanksgiving and prayers were offered for the success of his administration.
The visit, which marked one of his early engagements with the university community, drew a large congregation of staff, students, and other faithful who gathered for the weekly Friday prayer. The Chief Imam, Alhaji Danjuma Khalid, led special supplications, seeking divine guidance, wisdom, strength, and good health for the Vice-Chancellor as he assumes leadership of the institution.
In his brief address to the congregation after the prayer, Professor Ibileye expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to serve and for the warm reception he has received since assuming office. He described his appointment as a call to higher responsibility and service.
The Vice-Chancellor humbly appealed to members of the university community to continually remember him in their prayers, noting that leadership requires divine direction and collective support. He also urged them to always tell him the truth, emphasizing that honest and constructive feedback would enable him to make informed decisions that would move the university forward.
In his solemn voice, “I need your prayers and your sincerity,” he said. “Please, always tell me the truth. Together, with unity and transparency, we can build a stronger and greater university.”
The atmosphere at the mosque was solemn yet hopeful, as worshippers offered prayers for peace, progress, and stability within the institution. Many members of the congregation expressed optimism that the new Vice-Chancellor’s administration would usher in a period of growth, academic excellence, and infrastructural development.
