Prof. Gbenga Solomon Ibileye Pledges Excellence as Federal University Lokoja’s Fourth Vice-Chancellor.
Lokoja: Nigeria – Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibieye has officially taken office as the Fourth Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, promising to steer the institution towards excellence with humility and a sense of responsibility.
In his inaugural address, Professor Ibieye expressed deep gratitude to Almighty God and acknowledged the significance of the occasion, highlighting the responsibility that comes with leading one of Nigeria’s premier institutions of higher learning.
“I stand before you with a sense of awe and trepidation, aware of the weight of the responsibility that has been bestowed upon me,” Professor Ibileye said.
“I am deeply humbled by the trust reposed in me by the Governing Council and the University community, and I pledge to discharge my duties with integrity, diligence, and dedication.”
The Vice-Chancellor outlined his vision for the University, emphasizing the need for academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement.
“Our university must be a beacon of knowledge, a catalyst for positive change, and a driving force for the socio-economic development of Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.
Professor Ibileye also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessors, particularly the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, expressed his commitment to building on their achievements.
He also welcomed the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, and members of his executive council, thanking them for their support and commitment to education.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, traditional rulers, and esteemed members of the academic community.
In his address, the Governor of Kogi State, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting education in the state, highlighting the importance of quality education in driving economic growth and development.
Professor Ibileye’s assumption of office marks a new chapter in the university’s history, with expectations high for his leadership to shape the institution’s future.
