We, the concerned people and stakeholders of Kogi West Senatorial District, write this open letter with a profound sense of duty, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to the continued progress and development of our district and Kogi State at large.
This letter serves as a respectful and sincere appeal to the Kogi State Government and the leadership and critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State to, in the overriding interest of unity, stability, continuity, and effective representation, allow Senator Sunday Steve Karimi to return elected for a second term as the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
Our appeal is firmly anchored on demonstrated performance and proven capacity. Since assuming office, Senator Karimi has distinguished himself as a proactive, people-centered, and result-oriented legislator who has restored confidence and credibility to senatorial representation in Kogi West. His tenure has been marked by purposeful leadership, visibility, accessibility, and consistent advocacy for the collective interests of our people at the National Assembly.
In the area of legislative responsibility, Senator Karimi has shown seriousness and commitment through active participation in plenary debates, motions, and committee assignments. He has consistently used legislative platforms to raise issues affecting Kogi West and Kogi State, while also contributing meaningfully to national discourse on governance, development, and public welfare. His approach reflects a clear understanding of the responsibilities of his office and the expectations of his constituents.
With respect to constituency engagement and human capital development, Senator Karimi has maintained strong and continuous interaction with the grassroots. His regular consultations with traditional institutions, community leaders, youths, women groups, professional bodies, and party structures across Kogi West underscore a leadership style rooted in inclusiveness, accountability, and responsiveness. Through various empowerment and intervention initiatives, many constituents—particularly youths and women—have benefited from skills acquisition programs, economic empowerment support, and capacity-building opportunities aimed at promoting self-reliance and reducing unemployment.
The Senator has also demonstrated commendable commitment to infrastructure, education, health, and social development advocacy. Through sustained engagement with relevant federal institutions and agencies, he has facilitated and supported federal presence in critical sectors such as road rehabilitation, educational support, healthcare interventions, and community-based development projects across the senatorial district. These interventions have contributed to improving living standards, strengthening public confidence in governance, and reinforcing the importance of effective federal representation.
Beyond his legislative and constituency roles, Senator Karimi has proven himself to be a loyal, disciplined, and dependable party man. He has consistently aligned with the ideals, policies, and progressive vision of the APC, while promoting internal cohesion and unity rather than division. His conduct has earned him respect within the party and across political lines. Supporting his return for a second term will clearly demonstrate that the APC values loyalty, rewards performance, and prioritizes competence.
Continuity in leadership is critical for consolidating gains already recorded. A second term will enable Senator Karimi to deepen ongoing initiatives, strengthen institutional relationships, attract additional development opportunities, and further amplify the voice of Kogi West at the national level. It will also help minimize internal party tensions and position the APC in Kogi State to approach the 2027 elections from a standpoint of unity, stability, and strength.
Democracy thrives when performance is acknowledged and rewarded. In this regard, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi has earned the trust, confidence, and broad support of the people of Kogi West Senatorial District.
We therefore humbly and respectfully call on the Kogi State Government and APC stakeholders to consider this appeal favorably and support Senator Karimi’s return for a second term in the overall best interest of our people, our great party, and Kogi State.
