
Hon. Ojomah Wins AFAN Best Performing Agric Commissioner Award of Excellence.

The Kogi state Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Timothy Ojomah has been presented with an award of Excellence as the best performing commissioner of the year on Agriculture by the State All Farmers Association of Nigeria AFAN.

Presenting the Award to the Commissioner, Kogi state AFAN Chairman, Alhaji Salihu Adobanyi said the award bestowed on the Commissioner was based on his track records of achievements in the Agricultural sector, noting that he has done so much to compliment the efforts of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to make Agriculture very attractive in the state, especially in the provision of Tractors and Agricultural imputes to farmers to help boost food production in the state.

Alhaji Adobanyi disclosed that AFAN in the state will soon hold it state congress where new officials to handle the affairs of the association will be elected and solicited the moral support of Government and Stakeholders for a successful congress.

In his reaction, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Timothy Ojomah appreciated the leadership of AFAN for the honor, noting that it will spur him to do more to uplift the standard and welfare of farmers in the state.
Mr Ojomah who dedicated the award to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo described Agriculture as the most richest and respected sector in the world.
He commended the State AFAN chairman for setting a standard for it members and congratulated them in advance for planning to hold a simmless transision and assured them of the ministry support to ensure a successful election.
In a remarks, the permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr Moses Dare commended AFAN leadership for the honor bestowed on the Commissioner, describing him as kind hearted, selfless and most approachable personality who has proven his mettle in the Agricultural sector of the State.
In another development, the All Farmers Association of Nigeria ( AFAN ) in Kogi state led by Alhaji Salihu Adobanyi has called on Farmers and stake holders in the state to disregard one Alhaji Amadu Abdullahi parading himself as the chairman of AFAN in State.
Alhaji Adobanyi disclosed that the Alhaji Amadu led group who is from Eastern Senatorial district has been parading himself and his group illegally without the recognition and knowledge of the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Commissioner for Agriculture and the entire farmers and people of the state. He stressed that they are out to defraud and exploit farmers in the state.
The AFAN Chairman said the association has it rules on leadership rotation, stressing that the first AFAN chairman in the state was Dr Tunde Arosanyin from Kogi West while the second was Mr MM Zakari, from Kogi East, the third is Mrs Rabi Peace Emaiku from Kogi East and the present is himself from Kogi central, adding that it is the turn of Kogi West to produce the next State AFAN Chairman.
He disclosed that a congress where farmers in the state will elect it next leadership will take place soonest, urge Members to remain calm and peaceful while further arrangements will be communicated to them in due course .
