KOGI POLY RECTORSHIP: BIOGRAPHY OF DR. FAROUQ NDAMADU MUSA, KOGI BORN ACADEMIC GURU
Dr. Farouq Ndamadu Musa is a distinguished academic, seasoned administrator, and accomplished statistician whose career spans over two decades of dedicated service to education, research and institutional development in Nigeria.
A true son of the soil of Kogi State, born on 9th August, 1981 in Lokoja, Dr. Farouq NMusa embodies the aspirations, values and intellectual capacity required to lead Kogi State Polytechnic into a new era of academic excellence, innovation and relevance.
Dr. Farouq N Musa hails from Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State. Growing up within the cultural and educational environment of Kogi State, he developed early appreciation for learning, discipline and public service. His deep-rooted connection to Kogi State gives him a unique understanding of the institution’s history, challenges and future potential, positioning him as a leader who combines local insight with global academic standards.
Dr. Farouq N Musa’s academic journey reflects exceptional commitment to learning and professional development. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Statistics from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, complemented by an MSc in Biostatistics from Maryam Abacha American University, Maradi, Niger Republic. His solid academic foundation was laid at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned both a BSc in Statistics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics.
Further strengthening his pedagogical and technical competence, Dr. Farouq N Musa obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Education from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, alongside Higher National Diploma (HND) and National Diploma (ND) in Statistics from Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa and Kaduna Polytechnic respectively.
This rare blend of university and polytechnic education equips him with a holistic understanding of Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
Dr. Farouq N Musa is currently a Chief Lecturer at Kaduna Polytechnic, where he has served diligently since 2010. His teaching career cuts across Statistics, Biostatistics, Research Methods and Data Analysis with a reputation for clarity, mentorship and academic rigor.
He has also served as;
1. Dean, Students’ Affairs, Kaduna Polytechnic (2019 – Date)
2. Lecturer, Kaduna State School of Health Information Management
3. Visiting Lecturer, Kaduna State University, Kaduna.
4. Facilitator, National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna
5. Part-Time Lecturer, School of Preliminary and Remedial Studies, Kaduna Polytechnic
His administrative experience as Dean of Students’ Affairs has exposed him to policy implementation, student management, conflict resolution, welfare administration and institutional leadership as a key competencies required of a Rector.
Beyond teaching, Dr. Farouq N Musa is the Managing Director of Statistics Concept, Kaduna, a professional consultancy firm established in 2006, through which he has provided statistical and data analysis services to researchers, institutions and development organizations. This exposure underscores his capacity to bridge theory with practice and align academic training with industry and societal needs.
He is proficient in advanced statistical software including SPSS, R-Programming, Minitab, NCSS, Epi Info and Excel and remains actively engaged with emerging trends in Statistical Data Analysis and Information Technology.
Dr. Farouq N Musa is multilingual, fluent in English, Nupe, Bassa-Nge, Hausa, Yoruba, Igala, Arabic and Egbira, enabling effective communication across diverse cultural and institutional settings in Kogi State and beyond. He is widely regarded as disciplined, principled, innovative and deeply committed to excellence.
