Kogi Govt Unveils Drones to Fight Insecurity
Kogi State Government has launched 2 security drones, PH 20 UAS, to combat terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.
Governor Ahmed Ododo says the move is part of efforts to strengthen security architecture and protect citizens.
The drones will enhance surveillance, monitoring, and response capabilities, supporting real-time intelligence gathering and precision-led operations.
The government has also strengthened grassroots intelligence, absorbed 2,752 Vigilante Service personnel into the civil service, and recruited hunters to support operations in forests and hard-to-reach areas.
Other security measures include clearance operations, construction of a Quick Response Unit, and distribution of patrol vehicles, motorcycles, and communication gadgets.
The State Security Adviser, CDR Jerry Omodara, stated that the drones will provide real-time aerial surveillance, terrain mapping, and rapid intelligence gathering, particularly in forest corridors and border routes. This move is part of Governor Ododo’s administration efforts to assert its authority and presence in every part of the state.
