N‑HYPPADEC Kogi Coordinator Wishes State a Prosperous 2026, Calls for Unity to Boost Waterways Development.
The Kogi State Coordinator of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N‑HYPPADEC), Mr. Michael Omeiza Ajayi, has extended warm New Year greetings to the government and people of Kogi State as they enter 2026.
In his felicitation message, Mr. Ajayi expressed confidence that the state will experience accelerated development in the waterways sector, aligning with the commission’s vision.
He urged Kogites to look ahead with optimism, anticipating sustained progress across all N‑HYPPADEC‑supported areas in the coming year.
The Coordinator called on all Nigerians of goodwill to join forces with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration and Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo in driving national and state prosperity.
He praised Governor Ododo’s purposeful leadership and the administration’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with the federal government to advance Kogi’s interests.
He added that the Commission has addressed the socio-economic and environmental impacts of dam operations, including ecological damage, infrastructure deficits (housing, health, education), resettlement issues, and resource management, geared towards promoting inclusive growth and resilience.
He further noted that the Commission has helped tackle ecological issues like flooding and erosion caused by dams and advise on prevention, assured that the Commission will not waiver in it commitment in the State in the new year.
The Coordinator disclosed that the Commission has impacted in the Socio-Economic Development of the State through Implementing projects for housing, education, health, and community empowerment, fostering inclusive growth, assuring of sustaining it responsibilities in the State.
He also disclosed that the Commission will continue in it support and mitigation, cushioning the negative effects (ecological, social, psychological) of dams on affected communities.
While restarting restated the commitment of N-HYPPADEC to transform the challenges posed by dams into opportunities for sustainable development, he promised improved livelihoods in affected regions, pointing out that it has worked tirelessly to deliver water, electricity, and livelihood projects in virtually every N-HYPPADEC community, ensuring that the federal government’s support reaches those who need it most,” the Coordinator added.
Ajayi further encouraged Kogites to remain focused on their aspirations for a greater Kogi State, emphasizing that unwavering support from the populace is essential for the state government to realize its development goals.
