We Are Not Slaves – 2027 Is Time for Kogi West– Kogi Progressive Alliance
The Kogi Progressive Alliance (KPA), a coalition of grassroots activists, community leaders, and concerned citizens, today reiterated its unequivocal demand for a democratic power shift to Kogi West in the 2027 gubernatorial election.
In a strongly worded statement signed by Usman Babalola, National Spokesperson of the KPA, the group declared: “Kogi State is made up of three Senatorial zones – Kogi West, Kogi East, and Kogi Central. Since the state’s creation in 1991, Kogi East has enjoyed an average of sixteen years in power. Divine providence and natural order allowed power to shift to Kogi Central after 2015, and Kogi Central has now completed eight years under Governor Yahaya Bello, with an additional four-year tenure granted by the Constitution, ending in 2027.”
The statement continued: “It is only just, fair, and in line with democratic principles that power returns to our brothers and sisters in Kogi West in 2027.
The people of Kogi West have waited long enough, and it is time for their turn to lead.”_
The KPA emphasized that the demand is not a mere political slogan but a call for equitable representation and inclusive governance. _“We are not slaves in our own state. The era of perpetual dominance by any one zone must end. 2027 must be the year Kogi West assumes the mantle of leadership,” Babalola asserted.
The alliance called on all stakeholders, including political parties, traditional rulers, and well-meaning citizens, to support the cause of fairness and justice by endorsing a candidate from Kogi West for the 2027 governorship.
The KPA pledged to mobilize grassroots support, conduct sensitization campaigns, and engage in peaceful advocacy to ensure that the will of the people is respected.
