MAAI Unity Football Competition Grand Finale Holds in Isanlu, Yagba East LGA

 

The ancient town of Isanlu, headquarters of Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, was filled with excitement, unity, and celebration as the grand finale of the MAAI Unity Football Competition was successfully held in honour of the birthday of the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Kogi State, Hon. Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA.

 

The highly anticipated final match featured Temitope FC and AB F (Mopo) two outstanding teams that displayed remarkable skill, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. The event attracted a large turnout of football lovers, youths, community stakeholders, and residents from Isanlu and surrounding communities.

 

The competition was graced by several eminent personalities, led by the celebrant, Hon. Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA. Also in attendance were the Former Chairman of Yagba East Local Government Area, Hon. Rasaq Asiru **Hon. Adams Afolabi, and other respected political office holders, traditional leaders, and prominent sons and daughters of Isanlu.

 

The final match was fiercely contested, with both teams giving their all from the first whistle to the end of regulation time. With scores level at full time, the encounter proceeded to a dramatic penalty shootout, where AB F Mopo triumphed with a 4–3 victory emerging as champions of the 2025 MAAI Unity Football Competition.

 

In recognition of excellence and participation, cash donations were awarded to teams that finished in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions, while all other participating teams also received financial support as a gesture of encouragement and appreciation for their commitment to the success of the competition. This initiative further underscored the organisers’ dedication to youth empowerment, sports development, and inclusive community engagement.

 

The tournament witnessed the active participation and support of sons and daughters of Isanlu from all walks of life, reinforcing the spirit of unity, peace, and collective progress. Beyond football, the competition served as a platform for social integration, talent discovery, and positive youth engagement.

The MAAI Unity Football Competition stands as a befitting celebration of the birthday of Hon. Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA reflecting his unwavering commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment, and community cohesion in Yagba East Local Government Area.
