Capacity Building Key to Successful Project Implementation – KGCSDA GM
The General Manager of the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KGCSDA), Alhaji (Chief) Momoh Dauda, has stressed that training and capacity building remain critical to the successful implementation of community-driven projects across the state.
He made this known on Wednesday in Lokoja at the commencement of a training programme for members of Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs) held at the agency’s office under the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Programme.
According to the General Manager, equipping community representatives with the right knowledge and skills is essential to ensuring quality execution, accountability, and sustainability of projects at the grassroots.
“Training and capacity building are very key to successful project implementation. What you learn here will directly reflect in the quality of projects you will deliver in your various communities,” Alhaji Momoh said.
He urged participants to take the training seriously, noting that the NG-CARES programme places strong emphasis on transparency, community ownership, and value for money.
“This training is not a mere formality. It is designed to empower you with practical skills that will guide you through planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of your projects,” he added.
Alhaji Momoh further disclosed that more communities across Kogi State would benefit from similar trainings as the NG-CARES programme progresses, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to inclusive development.
The General Manager also used the opportunity to welcome the representative of the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community and Social Development Projects, Hon. Muhammad Nuhu Tanimu, who attended the event as the Special Guest of Honour.
While appreciating the Governor’s continued support for community-based interventions, Alhaji Momoh called on the Special Adviser to further advocate for the agency to access additional funding.
“We appeal to you, sir, to help make a strong case for the agency so that more funds can be made available. With increased support, we will be able to reach more communities and deepen the impact of NG-CARES across the state,” he said.
The KGCSDA boss also reiterated his confidence in the competence and professionalism of the agency’s staff, assuring participants that the training content would be delivered to the highest standard.
“Our staff have the capacity and experience to deliver quality training that meets global best practices in community development,” he noted.
A total of thirty-four (34) participants from four communities took part in the training. The programme covered key areas including project management, financial management, procurement procedures, technical details and supervision, monitoring and evaluation, gender mainstreaming, conflict resolution, report writing, as well as environmental and social safeguards.
The training is part of KGCSDA’s ongoing efforts under the NG-CARES programme to strengthen community institutions and ensure effective, transparent, and sustainable delivery of development projects in Kogi State.
