Kogi to Implement Nigeria’s Tax Act 2025, Promises Improved Governance

Kogi State government has announced plans to domesticate the new Nigeria Tax Act 2025, with implementation set to begin on January 1st, 2026, through the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS).

Governor Usman Ododo, represented by Special Adviser on Tax, Rahman Ichanyi, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja, emphasizing the state’s commitment to good governance and economic reforms.

Ododo praised KGIRS management and staff for their professionalism and dedication, noting that the new tax framework is designed to be simple, clear, and taxpayer-friendly, harmonizing tax obligations and removing multiple taxation.

The domesticated tax Acts is expected to benefit taxpayers by reducing compliance costs, ensuring fairness, and promoting a business-friendly environment, ultimately strengthening trust between government and taxpayers.

Ododo urged stakeholders to support the effective implementation of the 2025 Tax Acts, driving inclusive growth and development in Kogi State.
