Hon Abang congratulates General Musa on nomination as Defence Minister

 

The parliamentarian representing Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency of Cross River State in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, Hon. Victor Abang, has sent out a message of congratulations to General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), erstwhile Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), on his nomination as the Minister of Defence by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT).

Hon Abang in a statement by his Personal Assistant (PA) on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communications, Simon Abang, described the nomination as a significant step in President Tinubu’s efforts to find lasting solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges.

According to the statement, the Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency representative in the Lower Legislative Chamber noted that “Gen. Musa, a former Chief of Defence Staff with extensive expertise in security operations and system management, brings a distinguished record of service to the role”, while applauding the President for what he termed “a timely and strategic choice, and urged Nigerians to support the administration as it works to address insecurity across the country.”

Born on December 25, 1967, Musa, a retired army general served as the 18th CDS of the country between June 19, 2023 to October 24, 2025 when he retired from military service.

He was in 1986 admitted to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in 1991 as a member of the 38th Regular Course, and got commissioned into the Nigerian Army as a Second Lieutenant.

His nomination by President Tinubu has been duly confirmed by the Senate after he was subjected to a five-hour grilling by the senators on Wednesday.
