Alhaji Suleiman Babaali Steps Down as APC Leader of Lokoja, Kogi Federal Constituency, Hands Over to Rt. Hon. Umar Aliyu

 

Alhaji Suleiman Babaali has publicly relinquished his role as APC leader for Lokoja and Kogi Federal Constituency during a press conference at his GRA residence after a stakeholders’ meeting.

He announced the creation of an Elders Advisory Council, which he will chair, and resigned to focus on personal matters.

Rt. Hon. Umar Aliyu (Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly) was unanimously endorsed as the new APC leader for Lokoja LGA, while Engr. Bashiru Gegu remains leader for Koton‑Karfe LGA.

He reaffirmed commitment to APC, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, and all elected officials.

The party also endorsed Hon. Hussein Abdulrahman as Chairmanship candidate and re‑endorsed the ten incumbent councillors.

According to Babaali: “I remain committed to the APC, not just in Lokoja and Kogi Federal Constituency, but to the APC in Nigeria as a whole.”
“I will move backwards to the position of the Elders Advisory Council… I’m available for advice.”

In his reaction, the
Speaker Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar, thanked Babaali for his past leadership and assured continued collaboration with the new leadership.
