The Kogi State Government says it is poised towards eradicating terrorism using the instrumentality of education.

 

Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo, represented by the Education Commissioner, Hon. Wemi Jones, made the disclosure at the 7th convocation ceremony of Salem University, Lokoja, said the present administration has made education free through free tuition and payments of all external and final year examination.

A total of 172 students graduated at the 2025 convocation ceremony ceremony, Gov Ododo lauded Salem University’s Triumph in Moulding Change Agents.

Gov Ododo assured of his administration unwavering dedication to academic excellence, character formation, and leadership development as envisioned by Salem University.

The event, themed “Release of Change Agents,” emphasized the crucial need for individuals who can challenge norms and pioneer innovative solutions in today’s rapidly evolving world.

Gov. Ododo commended the graduating class for their discipline, perseverance, and hope, highlighting the role of Salem University in nurturing a new generation of visionary leaders and builders.

Gov. Ododo emphasis on academic excellence and character development, said it has positioned Salem University’s graduates as exemplar, change agents poised to make a positive impact on society.

“Kogi State recognizes the pivotal role that institutions like Salem University play in fortifying the community and country by producing innovative and inspirational individuals ready to shape a brighter future.

The recent approval granted to Salem University by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to launch its Medical Programme marks a significant milestone, positioning the university as a renowned hub for medical education in the North Central region.

Governor Ododo’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance learning and healthcare services is underscored by the State Government’s keen interest in Salem University’s request for the Kogi State Specialist Hospital to serve as a teaching and training facility for the new Medical Programme”.

Gov. Ododo urged Salem University’s graduands to embark on their next chapter, armed with knowledge, character, and values instilled by the institution, tasked them to stand ready to be catalysts for change in their communities and beyond.

The 7th convocation ceremony concluded with well-deserved accolades for the University’s leadership, academic community, parents, and exceptional graduands, all of whom Gov. Ododo says exemplify dedication and achievement.
