Kogi West: Karimi Camp Dismisses Claims Senator “Fled” Wada’s Decamping Event

A political group, Karimi Stands for Justice, has refuted media reports alleging that Senator Sunday Karimi “fled” the decamping ceremony of former Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, held in Lokoja on Monday.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Comrade Usman Yahaya, the group described the report as “misleading, sensational, and deliberately crafted to misinform the public.”

Karimi Did Not Flee the Event — Group

According to the statement, Senator Karimi attended the ceremony based on an official invitation and left only after completing his scheduled engagements.
The group insisted that his departure was normal and unrelated to any form of tension, calling the circulating narrative “a manufactured attempt to dramatize a harmless situation.”

Anonymous Tirades Do Not Represent Kogi West

The group also dismissed claims that constituents criticized the senator at the event.
It argued that the report relied on “faceless and unverified comments that do not reflect the views of the politically mature people of Kogi West.”

They noted that Senator Karimi maintains strong grassroots engagement through active constituency offices and ongoing projects across all seven LGAs of Kogi West.

‘Independence of Thought Is Not Disloyalty’

The statement emphasized that Senator Karimi’s political decisions are guided by principle, not pressure.
It said attempts to portray his independent stance as disloyalty were misplaced and politically motivated.

Election-Season Propaganda

As political activities ahead of the next election intensify, the group described the reports as part of “smear tactics” aimed at undermining Karimi’s rising influence.

Karimi’s Track Record

Listing several achievements — including infrastructure, empowerment initiatives, legislative interventions, electrification, and youth programs — the group stated that Karimi’s performance clearly contradicts any claims of disconnect with the people.

Unwavering Commitment to Kogi West

The statement reaffirmed Senator Karimi’s dedication to serving the district with “integrity, vision, and accountability,” urging the public to disregard the “misleading report.”
