The former Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly and member representing Esan North-East Constituency II, Rt. Hon. (Mrs.) Maria Oligbi-Edeko, has officially commissioned the Amedokhian Divisional Police Headquarters in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The newly inaugurated facility, which stands as one of her key constituency projects, was executed in collaboration with the Amedokhian Development Association (ADA).

The project aimed to strengthen security, promote peace, and enhance socio-economic development within the Amedokhian community and its environs.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Rt. Hon. Oligbi-Edeko stated that her motivation for initiating the project stemmed from her deep concern over rising insecurity and the need to support law enforcement agencies in protecting lives and property.

“Security is the foundation for development. Without peace, no community can thrive.

“This project is my humble contribution toward ensuring that the people of Amedokhian and its neighboring communities can sleep with their eyes closed,” she said.

She expressed profound appreciation to all individuals and groups who contributed in one way or another to ensure the successful completion, furnishing, and digitization of the new police facility.

According to her, the joint effort between the community and her office demonstrates what can be achieved when leaders and citizens work together for the common good.

Rt. Hon. Oligbi-Edeko further described the project as a strategic investment in the safety and progress of the constituency, emphasising that the presence of the Divisional Police Headquarters will not only curb criminal activities but also attract more development to the area.

The event drew dignitaries and notable personalities from across Esanland and beyond, who converged on Amedokhian to witness the historic occasion.

Speaker after speaker took turns to commend the lawmaker for her visionary leadership and commitment to community development.

In their remarks, several community leaders and guests lauded Rt. Hon. Oligbi-Edeko for her unwavering dedication to the welfare of her constituents, describing her as a true representative of the people.

Representatives of the Edo State Police Command, in their goodwill message, praised the legislator and the Amedokhian Development Association for their partnership, noting that the new Divisional Police Headquarters will significantly complement the efforts of the police in the ongoing fight against crime in the region.

The event concluded with the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, inspection of the facility, and a vote of thanks from the community leaders, who pledged to continue supporting government initiatives that promote peace and security.
