I extend my warmest and most sincere congratulations to Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN) on his unanimous approval by the National Council of State as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This appointment is a testament to your sterling qualities, profound integrity, and distinguished career in law and academia. Your nomination by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the overwhelming endorsement by the Council,including the commendation from His Excellency Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, speaks volumes about the high esteem in which you are held across the nation and Kogi State.
It is with immense pride that we celebrate this historic milestone, as you become the first son of Kogi State from the North-Central region to be elevated to this pivotal role. Your apolitical stance and unwavering commitment to the rule of law are the very attributes our nation needs at this time to steer the electoral body with fairness,impartiality, and courage.
Your illustrious journey,from the halls of the University of Jos to the pinnacle of legal practice as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and your extensive administrative experience as a Deputy Vice-Chancellor,has prepared you for this national assignment. Your expertise in Corporate Governance and the Law of Evidence will be invaluable in strengthening the institutional framework and transparency of our electoral processes.
As you prepare for the Senate screening,I am confident that you will bring the same diligence,wisdom, and dedication to this new role that has characterized your entire career. The task ahead is great,but so is your capacity. The integrity of our democracy rests on the credibility of our elections, and I have no doubt that you are the right person to safeguard and enhance it.
