Boat Mishap: Kogi Transportation Commissioner Commiserates with people of Ibaji
The Kogi State Ministry of Transportation has commiserated with the people of Ibaji LGA over the death of some indigenes who lost their lives in the recent boat mishap.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon Atuluku Victor Levi, in a statement issued to Newsmen in Lokoja described the incident as a tragic loss.
“We will in collaboration with the Marine Police and the National Inland Waterways Authority, ensure stricter compliance in respect of Life Jackets usage and passenger specifications to avoid overloading.
“A few weeks ago, was we distributed one thousand Life Jackets made available to the State by the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy. In the next few days, we will also make the four fiberglass boats gifted the Kogi State Government via the Ministry of Transportation by HYPPADEC operational in Idah/Ibaji,Lokoja/Bassa and Omala LGs”.
