Since 1997, when Confluence FM 94.1 first came alive, Sammy has been one of the trailblazers who gave the station its heartbeat and identity. With programs like Makossa Music, I Throwey Salute, As We See Am, Christmas Requests, and Sallah Specials, he brought joy, rhythm, and connection to countless listeners across Kogi and beyond. Every show he anchored carried a mark of passion, professionalism, and originality.
But beyond the microphone, Sammy, fondly known as Sammy Bobo, Basket Mouth, or “Monkey no fine but e mama like am”—is a personality larger than life.
Warm, humorous, generous, and always approachable, he is the kind of colleague whose presence lights up every space. I have been privileged to share in his warmth, kindness, trust, and boundless spirit of giving.
As he bows out of active service in grand style this 1st October and returns to his country home in Delta, we cannot help but reflect with gratitude on the footprints he leaves behind.
Sammy, you have entertained, inspired, and touched lives in ways words can hardly capture. You have left memories that will forever echo in the hearts of colleagues, listeners, and friends.
