Final year Poly student dies of abortion in Lokoja.

A Student of a Polytechnic has reportedly died while attempting to abort a six months pregnancy in Lokoja.
It was learnt that the tragic and sad incidence occured on Tuesday 26th August, 2025 at a private Clinic and Maternity located at Sarkin Noma community, Lokoja, Lokoja local government of Kogi state.
Findings revealed that the deceased student was said to be 26 years old, had sought the services of the private clinic to have her six months old pregnancy aborted. The abortion was successful carried out, but the medical personnel could not stop the bleeding after the abortion. “And she bled to death” said the source.
It was further learnt that the police were invited to the clinic, took recordings of the deceased and the clinic before evacuating the deceased to the mortuary of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) Lokoja.
The owner of the clinic has also been arrested and detained at state CID Lokoja by the police for investigation.
When contacted, management of the Polytechnic said they are not aware of the incidence, pointing out that the school is on holiday at the moment.
The Kogi state police public relations officer (PPRO) SP Williams Ovye could not be reached for confirmation as his line was not accessible at the time of sending this report.
