Kabba/Bunu LGA Authority Warns Traditional Rulers Granting Permission For Home Burial Within Their Domain, Says They Have No Right, Violators Will Face Swift Consequence

 

The Government of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area has warned traditional rulers, and community leaders that is granting permission for home burial within their territories without getting approval from the local government to desist from such, stressed that they lack the power to do that and anyone caught in the act will be sanctioned.

In a statement authorized by the Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, the Local Government declared that the *WARNING* have become necessary for public health sake.

The Chairman, issued the directive on Sunday the 24th of August, 2025.

1. That any traditional rulers that give approval for home burial without the authority of the local government will be queried and face a swift consequences

2. That any home burial without an application for approval to the local government, Five Hundred And Twenty Thousand Naria (#520,000) will be paid as government approved fee.

3. After that, the Health Department will visit the environment to ascertain the health condition of the location and approved a particular safe portion for them. If any of this processes is circumvent the family risk the danger of having their loved ones been exhumed and the family will be prosecuted.

4. That the local government we set up a panel of enquiry to investigate those traditional rulers that have violated the law of the local government regarding home burial and any traditional rulers that is found wanting will be queried and sanctioned.

The Executive chairman,said that security agencies will stop unauthorized home burial in any community with a fine.

The chairman,therefore, warmed those who were bent on flouting the local’s regulations that the government would bring the weight of the laws on them.
