
NYCN Presidential Aspirant, Comr. Jerry Felicitates Youths On International Youths Day

A Presidential Aspirant in the forthcoming National Youth Council of Nigeria election, Comr. Ben Jerry, has sent a message of felicitations to Youths across the country in the celebration of the 2025 International Youths Day celebration.
Comr. Jerry in a statement issued to Newsmen, described the theme for this year’s celebration as very apt, called on Youths across the country to take their destiny in their hands by learning skills.
Comr. Jerry mentioned that under his watch as Council Chairman, he made the celebration of National Youth day cardinal, described the essence of the day as one that calls for sober reflection.
The Presidential Aspirant described this year’s theme: “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond”, said the theme highlights the crucial role young people play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by translating global ambitions into local actions.
He added that It emphasizes that youth are not just beneficiaries of progress but proactive drivers of change, innovation, and leadership at the local level.
He called for youth participation in local planning, governance, and policy-making, with over 65% of SDG targets tied to local governance.
Comr. Jerry praised the administration of Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo for his
Youth Empowerment policies, said his policies aims to empower young people to lead and engage in decision-making, supporting youth-led initiatives that align with the SDGs.
Comr. Jerry expressed appreciation that this year’s celebration also marks the 30th anniversary of the World Programme of Action, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the opportunity given to Youths to participate in governance.
