2023 Presidency: Imo Speaker, Paul Emeziem Admonishes APC to Consider North Central and South East


 

Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem has admonished the leadership of the governing All Progressive Congress in the country to consider zoning their presidential ticket to North Central and South East come the 2023 political dispensation.

The Lawmaker disclosed this in Owerri, Imo State when the Kogi State House of Assembly delegation led by Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole took the presidential aspiration of Governor Yahaya Bello to the state.

He commended the delegation for a well thought out initiative to consider visiting the state which he said is the Heartland of the South East zone, stressing that whichever way Imo State takes in any political decision the entire region follows.

The Speaker said the delegation has shown that politics is local hence their decision to consult the grassroots through their members who represented the people who are in position to mobilize delegates from across all the wards in the country that will elect the party’s candidates.

He eulogized Governor Yahaya Bello,s doggedness and commitment to tackle headlong the mirage of challenges confronting his state that have made his name to continue to ring bell in the ears of the people, noting that he is a youthful governor that has shown capacity to deliver even as a party man.

He said since most Nigerians are advocating for the transfer of power to the younger generation, it will not be out of place for the young governor to show interest but advised him to work closely with his counterparts in Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodima who he described as a man whose capacity is far beyond been a Governor, stressing that it will be good to consider the two zones that have been left of the presidency slots since 1999.

He said though Governor Hope Uzodima have not declare his intention to run but it will be a thing of joy for them if South East is given an opportunity to produce the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Senator Hope Uzodima, pointing out that their support for Governor Yahaya Bello,s presidential project will be determine by their leader who will tell them the direction to go when the time comes.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole said Governor Yahaya Bello would be the best Candidate to rule Nigeria in 2023 considering his age and achievements in the area of security, education, health, civil service reform and Infrastructures development.

He said that the Governor has performed admirably and won several awards especially on security which indicate that he can handle the security challenges in the country.

The Speaker explained that the North Central and the South East Zones have not  been opportuned to produce the President since return to democracy in 1999 and therefore urged the region to support Alhaji Yahaya Bello replicate the good works he is doing in Kogi for the entire country.

He said the emergence of Senator Hope Uzodima as the Governor of Imo State is a plus to the ruling party, urging the members to give him maximum cooperation and support for the overall of the people of the state

“We in the Kogi House of Assembly have a robust relationship with the executive arm. For best functionality you need cordiality with other arms. Our Governor is the youngest and doing well in the area of security despite the fact that Kogi State is bordered by 9 States”.

“We have passed a vote of confidence in him. We went further to look at the geopolitical zone in the country. We passed the resolution that our governor should be the first to contest for president in 2023. We feel he can handle this country. Let there be fair sharing in the position. North Central should produce the president in 2023. It’s a notification that our governor will be contesting for the president in 2023. We urge the APC members in the State that the North Central and South East should be considered for the presidency in 2023. We will talk to our party leaders.we should give the young man who is at his peak  to rule Nigeria, Kolawole said.

Other members of the delegation include, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Muhammad, member representing Ankpa I and Deputy Speaker, Hon. Murtar Bajeh from Okehi and Chief Whip, Hon. Alfa Momog Rabiu from Ankpa 2, Hon. Ademola Bello from Mopamuro, Hon. Aderonke Aro, Yagba West, Hon. Ibrahim Usman from Adavi, Hon, Shehu Seidu from Ofu and Hon. Haruna Idoko Musa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters.
