In continuation of their nationwide consultations with states assembly members who are elected under the platform of the All Progressive Congress in the country, the  Kogi State House of Assembly delegation for Governor Yahaya Bello’s Presidential ambition has stormed the SouthEast region to canvas for its support.

The delegation which was led by Rt. Hon. Mathew Kolawole, Speaker of the assembly was in Abakaliki the state capital of Ebonyi to meet with the members of the state assembly who recently decamped to the APC alongside with the Governor of the state, Engr. David Umahi.

According to him Governor Yahaya Bello would be the best Candidate to rule Nigeria in 2023 considering his age and achievements in the area of security, education, health, civil service reform and Infrastructures development.

Kolawole said that Governor Bello has performed admirably and won several awards especially on security which indicate that he can handle the security challenges in the country.

Kolawole who led seven members of the Kogi State House of Assembly to solicit for Support from Ebonyi State Legislators noted that the North Central and South  East regions deserve most consideration for the positions of Nigeria President in 2023.

The Speaker explained that the two areas of North Central bloc and the SouthEast region have not tasted the position and therefore added that Umahi and Alhaji Yahaya Bello can work together.

He explained that the  decision by Governor David Umahi to join the ruling APC was the best decision for the people of the state.

“Your people will benefit more. We in the Kogi House of Assembly have robust relationships with the executive arm. For best functionality you need cordiality with other arms. Our Governor is the youngest and doing well including security. We are bordered by 9 States”.

“We have passed a vote of confidence in him. We went further to look at the geopolitical zone in the country. We passed the resolution that our governor should be the first to contest for president in 2023. We feel he can handle this country. Let there be fair sharing in the position. North Central should produce the president in 2023. It’s a notification that our governor will be contesting for the president in 2023. We urge the APC members in the State that the North Central and South East should be considered for the presidency in 2023. We will talk to our party leaders.we should give the young man who is at his peak  to rule Nigeria, Kolawole said.

National Vice Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of Nigeria, Southeast Zone and Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru said the State legislators will support the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for the President in 2023 if the All Progressives Congress chooses him as Presidential candidate.

Though Ebonyi Speaker noted that based on equity, the South East zone deserves the presidential position, they will support anyone chosen by the Party.

He also appealed that if the Party zones the presidential position to the South East zone, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi should be supported to rule the country while Governor Bello can still be supported to be his Vice President.

Other members of the delegation includes, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Muhammad, Deputy Speaker and Member representing Ankpa I, Hon. Murtar Bajeh, Chief Whip and member from Okehi, Hon. Alfa Momoh Rabiu, Ankpa 2, Hon. Ademola Bello, Mopamuro, Hon. Aderonke Aro, Yagba West, Hon. Usman Ibrahim, Adavi, Hon.
