A philanthropist and entrepreneur, Arc. Clifford Inegbedion, popularly called ‘Orbit’ by his admirers has officially declared his intention to contest for Esan West Constituency in the Edo State House under the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The event which was held at the APC Secretariat in Ekpoma, headquarters of Esan West local government was witnessed by party leaders from all the wards, supporters and a crowd of persons who had benefited from the philanthropic gesture of the politician.
Arc. Clifford Inegbedion who arrived the APC Secretariat in Ekpoma, surrounded by a crowd of supporters said he decided to hold the consultations with all key stakeholders in the local government to enable him come out victorious at the primary and possibly win the general election because he strongly believe that their backing, advice and above all, prayers will guarantee his success.
The politician and philanthropist said whereas he is optimistic about his aspiration, he will remain a discipline party man.
He said having been brought up in a family that was very well versed in leadership, it was no surprise that he is attracted to politics from a relatively young age, adding that his philanthropic gesture has made him to adapt policy.
According to Arc. Inegbedion, “I doesn’t see the need why l should have two of anything when my neighbor does not have any, l will simply give one out.”
The House of Assembly hopeful said he has touched lives with his philanthropic gestures saying he only needs the public office to expand his good intentions for the people, adding that what prevails in the local government in terms of both human, infrastructural and other developments is a far cry from it should be, judging from the vast available resources.
Chairman of APC Esan West Local Government Chapter Mr. Goddey Okhilu, receiving Architect Clifford Inegbedion and his supporters confirmed that though there is no anointed politician in the next dispensation, the party will however reward those who have worked tirelessly to sustain it at the time of distress.
He recalled how Architect Clifford Inegbedion stood by the party in his trying period with his resources when others were already hobnobing with the ruling party after its lost the inaugurating party in 2020.
The Esan West leadership commended him for keeping faith with the party but urged him to consult widely across the wards to ensure he wins the hearts of the party leaders.
Others who spoke, including Vice Chairman of APC, Esan West Mr. Patrick Okosun Aluegbetor, APC Woman Leader of the Local Government Ruth Odiase, ward leaders including Chief S.O. Emuan and Former Chairman Joseph Aisedion tasked the politician and philanthropist to continue to consult and meet the people to enable them key into his aspiration.
The event became politically charged when some members of ruling Party in the State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties joined the APC in the Constituency.
