Kachikwu defeated Kingsley Moghala to take his seat.

Former Anambra State governor Peter Obi has emerged as the Labour Party‘s flagbearer for the 2023 presidential election after Pat Utomi withdrew his candidature at the national convention and presidential primaries held in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on May 30.
Obi joined the LP soon after he gave up his membership in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and withdrew from the party‘s presidential primaries. He was an aide to former Vice President Atiku for the 2019 general elections.
