25 years after the 1995 Beijing women conference, Nigerian women have continued to struggle for space in all spheres of life. No government, Federal or State has made any attempts to implement a National Gender Policy (NGP) that is aimed at encouraging women inclusion in policymaking, election, and appointment.

The Governor Bello led administration in Kogi State has surpassed the 35% Affirmative Action for Gender representation, a feat that has brought him accolade like “The Most Gender Sensitive Governor in Nigeria” by *the National Council for Women Society*.

In addition to this, he is doing the same for Youths and people living with disability (PLWD). The administration of Governor Bello has since added more feathers to the youth by creating a Kogi State Youth Development Commission to cater for youth related matters.

Governor Yahaya Bello has effectively and efficiently made it possible for his state to be described a state of “unity in diversity”. This is exactly what we yearn for in Nigeria.

On a final note, equity, fairness and justice are indices for measuring true democracy. In Nigeria, there are six (6) Geopolitical Zones: North West, North East, North Central, South East, South West and South South. All of the aforementioned Geopolitical Zones have produced at least a President or a Vice each, *except for North Central Geopolitical Zone that has neither produced a President nor a Vice President*
